Why did you become a dentist?
In school, math and science always came naturally and easily. When I was in college, I had to choose between careers in research, medicine or dentistry. While I was completing a biochemical research project, I realized that I didn’t want to spend my life in a lab, so my career choice narrowed to either medicine or dentistry. After shadowing both a dental resident and an Emergency Room doctor, I recognized that I liked dentistry best. Dentistry was a good fit because I really enjoyed working with my hands.
What do you like most about being a dentist?
I enjoy connecting with people and helping people feel comfortable with dentistry. My patients tell me that, because I’m soft-spoken and calm, I put them at ease.
How do you spend your free time?
I love music. I enjoy concerts and I play the drums. I’ve played in bands throughout high school, college, dental school and during my career as a dentist. I also enjoy spending time with my wife and four children. In addition, I volunteer and fundraise for several charitable organizations on Long Island.
